📮 Canada Post Postal Workers Union Strike 2025: What You Need to Know

📦 Has your mail or packages taken longer to arrive at your home lately? There are others going through this, too. Employees who work in mail services across Canada, organized by the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW), are refusing to work overtime hours starting this week. 😮

While it’s not a full-blown strike (yet), this action is already affecting deliveries across the country — and it might just be the beginning.

🛑 What’s Going On?

Stalled talks between CUPW and Canada Post are at a stopping point. Workers are fighting for higher wages, safer jobs and a better work environment.

Let’s take a closer look at what’s causing the tension 👇

---

💰 1. Wages

The union is calling for a 19% wage increase over four years, saying it’s necessary to keep up with inflation and the rising cost of living. 🧾

But Canada Post has only offered 11.5%, which CUPW says falls short of what’s fair.

📆 2. Weekend Deliveries

Canada Post wants to use part-time staff for weekend shifts, a move the union fears could threaten full-time jobs and overall job security. 🚫

🛠️ 3. Working Conditions

Postal workers are also asking for:

• 💼 Better job protection in the face of automation
• 📅 More flexible leave policies
• 🏥 Stronger health and safety measures

🚚 How Will This Affect You?

While a complete strike hasn’t been declared, the overtime ban is already slowing down mail and parcel deliveries nationwide. 📉

If negotiations fail, Canada Post has warned that a full strike could stop all mail services, including letters, bills, and online orders. 😬

🔍 What’s Next?

Peaceful negotiations are going on, with the government closely watching to help the parties find a fair deal before normal operations are affected.

The outcome could reshape Canada’s postal services and labor relations for years to come. 🏛️
